Terms

The terms you are agreeing to.

Aadhi Learning Centre is a vocational training centre in Thiruvanmiyur, Chennai. Everything sold here is made by the adults who train with us, and the money from a sale goes back into running the workshops. These terms apply to anything you order from this website.

Who you are buying from, and how to reach us. The seller is the centre named above, at the address in the table on this page and in the footer of every page. Our phone number and email address are on the Contact page, and a person answers both. There is no other company involved in the sale.

You need to be able to enter a contract. By ordering you confirm you are eighteen or over, or that an adult is ordering on your behalf.

Placing an order is a request, not a payment. This website never takes money. There is no card payment and no payment gateway on it, and no card details are asked for, stored, or seen by us at any point. When you place an order we hold the pieces for you and email you the amount, including delivery, and how to pay it by UPI or bank transfer. Nothing is charged until you choose to pay.

You can walk away, and it costs you nothing. Up to the moment you pay, the order can be cancelled for any reason or none, and you owe us nothing. We charge no cancellation fee. Tell us, or simply do not pay, and the hold lapses on its own.

The delivery charge is worked out after you order, not before. A person weighs the parcel and looks up the actual postage. The checkout shows an estimated range so you are not ordering blind, and the exact figure reaches you by email before you are asked for anything.

The amount we email you is the whole amount. It is the total: the price of the pieces, the delivery charge, and any tax that applies, added up. Nothing is added after it. There are no handling charges, no convenience fees, and no surcharges of any kind.

A sale is complete when we have confirmed your payment, not when the website says your order was placed. We check the amount against our bank statement and then send the pieces. If a payment cannot be matched to an order we will contact you rather than guess.

Prices are in Indian rupees and include any tax that applies. We may change a price at any time, but never on an order already placed: the price you are quoted by email is the price you pay. If a price shown on the site is obviously wrong — a decimal point in the wrong place — we will tell you before taking any money rather than hold you to it, and you may cancel.

Everything here is made in India, at the centre in Thiruvanmiyur, Chennai, by the adults who train with us. Where anything is packaged, the declarations the law requires are on the packet; if one is missing or unreadable, tell us and we will replace it.

Nearly every piece here exists exactly once. Two consequences. Ordering holds your pieces for a fixed number of hours so nobody else can buy them while you pay; if that time passes without a payment the hold lapses and the pieces go back into the shop, and you are free to order again if they are still there. And if something has to be replaced, it will not be identical, because it was made once — we will send photographs of what is actually available so you are choosing rather than hoping.

Handwoven cloth varies, and that is not a fault. A slight irregularity in the weave, or a colour that reads differently on your screen from the cloth in your hand, is the nature of work made by hand on a loom. If you are unsure whether what arrived is a fault or the nature of the piece, send us a photograph and we will tell you honestly which it is — and if it is a fault, we will put it right.

Please give us the right address. We post to the address on the order. If a parcel comes back because the address was wrong or nobody could take it, we will happily send it again, and the second postage is yours to pay. If it comes back because we got something wrong, it is ours.

Delivery and returns have their own pages, and the figures on them are the ones we honour. Nothing on this page overrides them. A refund, where one is due, goes back the way the money came, within seven working days of the piece reaching us and being looked at.

If we cannot send what you ordered, because it was already sold or something went wrong at our end, we will tell you and refund you in full. We will not substitute something else without asking you first.

Photographs, descriptions and the name Aadhi Learning Centre belong to the centre. You are welcome to share a link to any page here, and to post a photograph of something you have bought. Please do not use our photographs to sell anything, and please do not use images of the people who work here at all — their photographs and names appear on this site only where they and their families have specifically agreed to it, and that agreement does not extend to anyone else.

What we are responsible for, and what we are not. We are responsible for sending you what you ordered, in the condition described, and for putting it right if we do not — by replacing it or refunding you. Beyond that, and beyond the value of the order, we cannot accept responsibility for indirect loss: a courier running late, a gift arriving after an occasion, or a plan that depended on a parcel. None of this affects any right you have under the Consumer Protection Act 2019 or any other law that cannot be signed away. Where this page and the law disagree, the law wins, and the rest of this page still stands.

Things outside anybody's control. Floods, a strike, a courier network stopping, a power failure at the workshop: where one of these delays us we will tell you what is happening and what your choices are, including a full refund if you would rather not wait.

If something goes wrong, there is a named person. The details are in the panel below. We will acknowledge a complaint within 48 hours of receiving it and resolve it within one month. You do not have to use this route before going anywhere else — it is there because most things are settled fastest by talking to us.

Ordering as a company, or in bulk, is arranged by conversation rather than by this page, and the terms of a bulk order are agreed in writing before anything is made.

These terms may change. The date they were last changed is in the table above. The version on this page when you order is the version that applies to that order; a later change does not alter an order already agreed. If any part of this page turns out to be unenforceable, the rest of it still applies.

Indian law applies. Disputes may be taken to the courts at Chennai — and nothing here stops you from complaining to the consumer commission where you live, which is a right the law gives you and we would not want to take away.

If any of this is unclear, ask before you pay. There is a phone number and an email address below, and a person at the other end of both.
