A pair of handmade earrings in pink, orange, violet, green and yellow quilled drops, beaded and assembled at ALC, Chennai. One-of-a-kind design — no two pieces come out the same. Beads, wire and a good deal of patience; no two are strung quite alike.

Buying several?
MATCHED BY COLOURThis one was made once, so an order for twenty is matched by colour family and size rather than by exact piece — and we send photographs of the actual batch before it goes out. Tell us the occasion, the number and the date, and we will say honestly whether we can make it.
Lead time is two to three weeks for ten to twenty-four pieces, and three to five beyond that.

Paper cut and rolled
Strips of coloured paper are cut to width and rolled around a needle, one coil at a time. A single pair of earrings is a few dozen coils.
Shaped and set
Each coil is pinched into a petal, a leaf or a disc and glued to its neighbours, then sealed so it survives being worn.
Findings fitted
Hooks and posts are added last, and the pair is checked for weight and balance.
